The Vampire Academy World Meets Palm Springs, and Miki LOVES It

The first book in Richelle Mead's brand-new teen fiction series - set in the same world as Vampire Academy.

When alchemist Sydney is ordered into hiding to protect the life of Moroi princess Jill Dragomir, the last place she expects to be sent is a human private school in Palm Springs, California. But at their new school, the drama is only just beginning.

Populated with new faces as well as familiar ones, Bloodlines explores all the friendship, romance, battles and betrayals that made the #1 New York Times bestselling Vampire Academy series so addictive - this time in a part-vampire, part-human setting where the stakes are even higher and everyone's out for blood.

Miki says:
"The much anticipated spin off series of the Vampire Academy books has finally arrived!  Richelle Mead has delivered another action packed novel.  This time, however, the vamps don’t get the spotlight.  In Bloodlines, Mead has brought back some of our most beloved characters like Adrian, Jill, and Rose.  The main focus though, is on Sydney.  She was the alchemist in the Vampire Academy books who went rogue with Rose.

Well, in order to save her sister from a life of servitude and to prove her loyalty to her kind, Sydney has taken on the task of going into hiding with a group of vampires to protect the vampire queens little sister, Jill.  The plan is to lay low and act normal in the desert of Palm Springs.  Thinking that the heat and sun of California has given them some protection, the group is greatly surprised when it isn’t quite as easy as they had initially thought.

Sydney must battle her past actions, the secrets of her family, and some very mysterious activities in Palm Springs before she can even begin to focus on the task at hand.  Plus, there is the added complication that she actually may like the vampires.  These are the same vampires that she has been raised to hate.

Mead has written another wonderful novel where it is impossible not to fall in love with the characters and become engrossed in the world they call home.  Plus, it is always nice to find a female character that can conquer evil with a strong mind and a sharp tongue.

This was such a fun read; I am really looking forward to reading more of this series.
