Brent Weeks and TC-- Fans of Each Other

Brent Weeks recently did a signing at our Highlands Ranch store for his new book The Blinding Knife (click on the cover to learn more about it).  He opened up his talk with the following:

"I'm sure you've heard of the good old days when bookstore personnel were knowledgeable and helpful and would ask you about what books you love and then recommend new books that you would come to love.

Well, there's been a lot of bad news for bookstores in the last few years, and there are a thousand dark and sorrowful things about bookstores closing for our culture and our country, but in one Darwinian survival-of-the-fittest sense, there have been some points
of light.

And this store is one of them. What you find here--at any of the three locations of The Tattered Cover--is the bookstore experience people like to romanticize. The Tattered Cover has survived because it is excellent. Those good old days are now. Take advantage of it. If this is the first time you've been in this store, or even if you've been here many times and are just shy, let me encourage you to talk to Jinx or any of the staff here. They love books, they read broadly, and they're smart. Talk to them. They'll blow your mind, and they'll help you find the books that YOU will fall in love with.

Tattered Cover, thank you for having me as your guest tonight. It's an honor to share this imaginative space with you."

Thanks, Brent.  You made a whole lot of bookseller and book lovers very happy with your lovely words.
