This Dark Road To Mercy is at once a compulsive page turner and a novel with characters and story so compelling and nuanced that you want to savor the experience. Easter and Ruby's mother is dead from an overdose, their deadbeat, failed minor league father relinquished custody years earlier and Easter is fiercely protective of her little sister. When their father kidnaps the girls from their foster home they are conflicted and mistrustful. As the three of them head west they are pursued by a violent sociopath and the girls' court-appointed guardian, one bent on vengeance and one on redemption.
