A New Mystery Series Set in a Bookstore? How Could Jackie Resist?

As the new owners of Pettistone's Fine Books, Darla Pettistone is determined to prove herself a worthy successor to her late great-aunt Dee...and equally determined to outwit Hamlet, the smarter-than-thou cat she inherited along with the shop. Darla's first store event is a real coup: the hottest bestselling author of the moment is holding a signing there. But when the author meets an untimely end during the event, it's ruled an accident-until Hamlet digs up a clue that seems to indicate otherwise...

Jackie says:
"I saw a review online about this book, and it reminded me of my longtime affair with 'cozy' mysteries, especially those in a series.  This one has all the things that were guaranteed to get my attention--it takes place in a bookstore, with booksellers as main characters, there's a moody resident cat who seems a very astute sleuth in his own right, there's a touch of romance, and there's a lot of very familiar frustrations about being an indie bookseller that made me laugh out loud more than once.  And it's the first in a series to be called 'Black Cat Bookshop Mysteries', after Hamlet, the proprietary cat. This book involves an author dying during an in-store signing, and the mystery is pleasantly complex with plenty of twists and turns (and, actually, laughs).  I very much look forward to the next book in the series."
