Jane Eyre is by far my favorite. It's the kind of book one would read in front of the fire on a rainy day.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1039291547450894569.post-45524986810262856852011-09-29T23:38:42.278-06:002011-09-29T23:38:42.278-06:00Wuthering Heights is a masterpiece. Sometimes I think Emily must have professionally studied psychology or something. But for some reason I didn't get it much... It was a little weird at times and hard to sympathize with.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1039291547450894569.post-18199605416119687082011-05-22T22:50:23.948-06:002011-05-22T22:50:23.948-06:00Try Villette (by Charlotte)--for something quite d...Try Villette (by Charlotte)--for something quite different from Jane E in many ways--crossing international borders and language/culture barriers--and also going a little insane for love. Each one by Charlotte is a little different from the others.epyllionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02196138931464213957noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1039291547450894569.post-74222045815578949422011-01-18T14:33:15.190-07:002011-01-18T14:33:15.190-07:00I recently read Diane Setterfield's novel The ...I recently read Diane Setterfield's novel The Thirteenth Tale. It was just published a few years ago, but it has a very similar style to Jane Eyre... I strongly recommend it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1039291547450894569.post-81026688067663895102010-05-03T11:41:40.462-06:002010-05-03T11:41:40.462-06:00I loved both books but jane eyre got to me more.
...I loved both books but jane eyre got to me more.
Charlotte really got into her character as opposed to Wuthering Heights which i felt was more like a series of events.
I'm 16 and read both books last year. It wasn't for shcool or anything, I was given the books by my grandmother in their tattered small print form (which completely added to the story!). None of my friends would admit to reading these books unless it was for school. I find this disappointing but I think these books should only be read for pleasure and not homework assignments. English class has a way of turning you off a masterpiece. Read Jane Eyre in your spare time....It's definetly worth it!! Can anyone recommend another book by one of the sisters in this style?Lauranoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1039291547450894569.post-19405400841220508432010-03-07T14:14:59.572-07:002010-03-07T14:14:59.572-07:00I've read both, upon my own account also :)
I ...I've read both, upon my own account also :)
I loved both intensely, though i did prefer wuthering heights, their love was not idolised they were real people with real faults. Jane Eyre was very good too except Jane was annoying from time to time it was very enjoyable.
I would suggest both books to any book lover !Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1039291547450894569.post-2572582805730092152009-07-10T06:21:15.335-06:002009-07-10T06:21:15.335-06:00That is EXACTLY how I feel about Wuthering Heights...That is EXACTLY how I feel about Wuthering Heights! Jane Eyre is one of my favorite classics, so I read Wuthering Heights hoping it would be similar; I was disapointed. THey did not write the same at all. Thankfully I have not waited for old age to prompt me into picking up the Bronte sisters, but then again I have always been an avid reader. It is so sad that this generation has forgotten the joys of a BOOK, with all these electronic gadgets taking over.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1039291547450894569.post-74331511121662498812009-03-25T22:14:00.000-06:002009-03-25T22:14:00.000-06:00You know, I'm the opposite. It's not that I don't like Jane Eyre, but I think that Wuthering Heights is the superior work.marmalade.sunrisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01447937497415831661noreply@blogger.com
